New England Match Best Victory Run Since Brady Years with Win Against Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five scores in the present year
New England tied their longest winning run since the Tom Brady period as they defeated division rivals the New York Jets by 13 points in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson was the standout with three TDs as the New England squad secured an eight-game winning streak for the initial occasion since star signal-caller Brady's final season with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Maye threw for 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 of 34 passes
The win increases the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York bottom after dropping to a 2-8 mark
The opposing team had taken the lead at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to finish the Jets' first possession
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third period to extend the lead to 21-7
"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," Maye said of Henderson. "He wants to be great."
Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to reduce the lead for the visitors but Borregales converted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
